Tuna and Pear Melt

Take 5 with this delectable dish that can moonlight well as an appetizer, when served in smaller portions.

Ingredients

2 cans (85g each) Clover Leaf Flaked Light Tuna - Dill & Lemon
1 pear, cored and sliced thinly
1/2 cup (125 mL) walnuts
1/2 cup (125 mL) blue cheese, crumbled
2 slices baguette, sour dough bread or your preferred bread

PREP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Slice the bread diagonally and place onto a baking sheet.
  2. Place a layer of tuna across the bread followed by a layer of the sliced pear and then chopped walnuts.
  3. Crumble the blue cheese overtop and place under broiler until melted.
  4. Garnish with dill and more chopped walnuts, if desired.

Tip: If you are looking for an alternative to blue cheese, these varieties of cheese come highly recommended – Gruyère, Taleggio, Gorgonzola and goat cheese.
