Tuna Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Pizza’zz

This pizza-inspired recipe is a great option when you have only minutes to feed the kids before rushing out to evening activities.


4 slices whole-grain bread
1 can (85 g) Clover Leaf Skipjack Flaked Light Tuna-Sundried Tomato & Basil Tuna
2 tbsp (30 mL) prepared pizza sauce
1/3 cup (75 mL) each shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese and chopped spinach leaves


  1. Lightly spray one side of each slice of bread with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Blend the tuna with the pizza sauce, cheese and spinach until combined. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over the un-coated side of two slices of bread. Cap with the remaining bread, coated side out.
  3. Heat a large, nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the sandwiches and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until golden and gooey. Makes 2 servings.

Tip: Finely chop some of your favourite pizza toppings to mix in with the tuna.
