Looking to level up your fried rice game? Or maybe just craving something a little different? This recipe turns up the flavour without turning up the effort.

Our Tuna and Kimchi Fried Rice is fast, fiery, and full of bold personality with spicy kimchi and the subtle heat of Clover Leaf Tuna in Olive Oil & Chili Pepper. The flavoured oil from the tuna adds a boost of savoury depth that coats every bite – no need for extra sauces, spices, or condiments.

Perfect for busy weeknights; you’ll want this on repeat.

Ingredients

2 tbsp Canola oil
2 Garlic cloves, minced
1 Small carrot, finely diced
1/2 cup Kimchi, well-fermented, chopped
1 tbsp Kimchi juice
1 tbsp Gochujang paste (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp Soy sauce, low sodium (if available)
2 cans (80g each) Clover Leaf Tuna in Olive Oil and Chili Pepper, tri-pack
2 cups Leftover short-grain rice (cold is best!)
1 tsp Sesame oil
Toppings:
1 Green onion, sliced
1/2 sheet Nori, shredded
1 tsp Sesame seeds, toasted
1 Fried egg, optional

PREP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium and add a generous splash of oil.
  2. Add carrot and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in the garlic and kimchi and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the kimchi is slightly caramelized.
  4. Add gochujang, soy sauce, and kimchi juice. Mix until everything is coated in the sauce.
  5. Add in tuna with olive oil and stir well to combine.
  6. Add in the leftover rice and break it up with a spatula. Stir-fry until everything is evenly mixed and heated through.
  7. Turn off the heat and drizzle in the sesame oil. Stir to combine.
  8. Serve with green onion, nori, and toasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Finish with a fried egg (if using) and enjoy it warm!
