Clover Leaf Takes on Fast Food!

We all love fast food. But we also know that it’s often loaded with calories, fat and sodium. So what if you could have your fast food and eat it too?? Well now you can because Clover Leaf enlisted the help of celebrity chef Michael P. Clive to reinvent fast food!

We challenged Michael (who also worked with us to develop the now very popular 'Take 5' recipes) to develop tasty, easy-to-make, low calorie & high protein versions of standard fast food fare like Pizza, Tacos, Pad Thai, even the classic burger with bacon & cheese. The results? In a word, delicious! Not only that, but take a look at how our recipes stack up against high calorie fast food:

All recipes were developed using Clover Leaf’s Flavoured Tuna products, including Lemon & Pepper, Sundried Tomato & Basil, Tomato & Onion, Spicy Thai Chili, Dill & Lemon, Spicy Peanut Satay and Garlic & Hot Pepper.

Here are a couple.

  1. Clover Leaf’s Captain Burger with Bacon and Cheese is a mouthwatering handful made with our Tomato & Onion Flavoured Tuna, and topped with the healthy usuals and some unusuals.

Vitamin D: A powerhouse in the fight against cancer

Vitamin D is known as the “sunshine vitamin” since it is synthesized in our skin after exposure to the sun.

However, the use of sunscreens, older age, living in northern latitudes as well as changes in sun exposure in the winter months make it hard for us to get enough of it.

Only a few food sources are rich in vitamin D, which are fatty fish like salmon, sardines, milk, eggs and tofu. Getting enough Vitamin D in your daily diet can reduce your risk of cancer. Talk to your doctor and/or registered dietitian about what is best for you.
