Since 2011, ISSF has sponsored a series of cruises for scientific researchers to work with fishers to gain input, test and improve gear designs, mitigate bycatch and better understand how fish behave around FADs. A global partnership among leaders in science, the tuna industry and WWF, the ISSF is focused on science-based initiatives for long-term conservation and sustainable use of tuna stocks, reducing bycatch and promoting ecosystem health.
