Sustainable Tuna at a Glance:

  • Tuna is our most popular product and is thus the species we are most heavily involved in sustainability efforts with.
  • As a proud founder of the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF), we are strongly invested in a wide range of projects, from by-catch mitigation, to sea turtle and shark conservation projects, to reduction of fishing capacity.
  • Our tuna is traceable from ship to plate, meaning we can confidently assure our customers that it is always sourced from healthy fish stocks or stocks with conservation management plans in place.
  • Our tuna is dolphin-friendly and free of shark finning.

The ISSF, formed in March 2009, is a global partnership among scientists, tuna processors, and the World Wildlife Fund. The tuna processors represent approximately 3/4 of the world’s shelf stable tuna production. This unique combination of industry, science and the environmental community is committed to driving positive change in tuna fisheries through the direct action of its participants.

The ISSF’s ultimate goal is to enable the global tuna fisheries to meet MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) standards.
