Questions - Farmed Fish
Answers
1) Salmon and Tuna - Is Clover Leaf salmon and tuna wild caught or farmed?
All of Clover Leaf’s Sockeye, Pink and Keta Salmon are wild. They are caught in the cold waters of the North Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea.
Our Atlantic Salmon is currently packed with farm-raised salmon from Norway, and it is free of antibiotics and additives. Most supermarket and restaurant Atlantic salmon is farmed. Fish farming involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. Fish farming offers an alternative solution to the increasing market demand for fish and fish protein. The most common fish species raised by fish farms are salmon, carp, tilapia, European seabass, catfish and cod.
All Clover Leaf tuna is wild caught. Canned tuna is most often made from skipjack, yellowfin and albacore. Only Bluefin tuna, used for sushi grade tuna, is farmed, and this is relatively rare.
